Case Study: Informing communities during construction periods

CalComms developed a comprehensive communications plan to support the delivery of a major 2,000-home development, ensuring stakeholders were kept informed about construction activity and associated infrastructure works taking place in their area.

The strategy included detailed timelines, stakeholder mapping and key messaging designed to explain both the short-term impacts of construction and the long-term benefits of the development.

Engagement was delivered across three key audiences: political stakeholders, residents and local businesses. CalComms produced stakeholder briefings for elected representatives, organised meetings with the County Council and other stakeholders, and delivered regular updates through community communications. This included an initial letter hand-delivered to nearby homes.

Local businesses and landowners most affected by the works were prioritised within the engagement programme, with regular updates provided through business networks and local media. This ensured that those most impacted by construction activity had clear information and a direct channel for raising concerns.
