Case Study: Demonstrating Public Support to Secure Planning Approval

CalComms joined the planning application team for a regional housebuilder after the scheme had attracted adverse publicity.


Working closely with the planning team, CalComms developed a targeted communications strategy designed to demonstrate the level of local support for the scheme. The proposed development included a significant provision of affordable and social housing, and the campaign focused on highlighting this provision.


Through a coordinated communications strategy, the number of supportive representations submitted to the planning authority increased from five to 59, clearly demonstrating local backing for the development.


The application was subsequently approved at planning committee, and construction is now underway to deliver both affordable and market homes.
